I groaned as the alarm rang and snuggled into my little one turning it off....I kissed his chubby cheek sleeply making him stir in his sleep.
My little pumpkin ......I bite on his cheek lightly giving into my intrusive thoughts and he groggily rubbed his eyes before waking up and then pouted looking at me.
Good morning my butter cup !!!.....I wished tickling him and he giggled melodiously making my heart smile.
moinggggggggg mumaa.....he clinged to my neck climbing over me and we cuddled for few minutes showering our love on each other . I hugged him to my chest driving strength from my little bean to face another day of life .
Amidst all the chaos and vulnerabilities of life, he is my anchor that keeps me holding preventing me from succumbing to the cruel world.
We freshened up and then headed downstairs . Maa has just came out of her room and my baby immediately greeted her making her smile and kiss his head.
I prepared tea for us and milk for my Avu....while he sat in balcony with her Naani maa. I made him have his milk and sipped my tea enjoying the fresh breeze of early morning.
Maa took Avu with her in the temple room while I started the breakfast and lunch preparation. In between I boiled milk for Krish and Kavya and prepared coffee for Bhai and Bhabhi .
Bhabhi entered the kitchen and grabbed the coffee and milk for her kids . I sighed in relief as she didnt taunt me today as usual. I could hear Krish and Kavya bantering in the hall and Avu blabbering in between them.
Suddenly I heard Avu crying and hurried out of the kitchen to check on him . Kya hua ? Gira kese gaya Avuu ....I asked picking my baby up in my arms and consoling him.
Buaa krish Bhai pushed me and Avuu...and snatched the remote from me......Kavya told and I looked at Krish.
Krish beta...its bad manners na....why would you push them .....I asked him and he just ran away making me sigh.
I gave bath to both Kavya and Avu and then dressed them up. I got Avu admitted to the play school last month, he returns back home by 12 pm l. I also got ready for my school .
I will get more busy in coming weeks as exams are approaching near.
I greeted Bhai who was reading newspaper and sat down to have my breakfast simultaneously feeding Avu and Kavya.
Bhai vo court ki hearing hai kal..... I told him and he just nodded looking at me for a moment.
Pata nahi ye divorce case bhi kitne din hi chalega ....pichle 1.5 saal se court ke chakar hi lagaye jaa rahe hai hum......Bhabhi said and I took a deep breath.
Ek baar ye faisla ho jaaye to kahi aur shaddi ka soche....ab mene kaha tha bacha baap ko de do khud sabhalega vo.....ab koi dusra kyu hi kisi ki aulad ko accept karega........Bhabhi said and I was about to retort to her but Maa held my hand under the table.
Mene kaha hai apni Mummy ko, koi divorcee ya bacho ka baap ya koi thodi badi umar ke aadmi ka rishta bataye Sanyukta ke liye ....She added making me look at her in disbelief.
Pooja hum khud dekh lenge Sanyu ke liye rishta tumhari mummy ko jaroorat nahi hai pareshan hone ki .....Maa said to her and she made a face before focusing on her breakfast.
I somehow finished my food and packed Avu's bag and left the house. I wanted to live separately but Avu is quite small and Bhai didnt allow me to live alone so I have to bear my Bhabhi and her taunts.
I dont need any man in my life now....I am happy with my Avu ...I will move out of the house by next year when Avu will start going to school properly. Its just a matter of few more months...I consoled myself.
Ranvijay's POV
The courtroom was buzzing with tension, and I could feel the familiar adrenaline kick in. This was what I live for. I straightened my coat, shooting a confident glance at the opponent. The poor guy didn’t know what was coming.
“Ranvijay sir, unka senior advocate aaj present hai. Ye case aasan nahi hoga,” Satyam whispered beside me, clearly a bit nervous.
“Satyam, tujhe kya lagta hai?” I smirked, adjusting my collar. “Yeh koi cricket match hai jo mujhe senior aur junior mein farak dikhai de?”
Satyam chuckled, knowing well enough that I rarely got rattled, even with big names in the opposition. “Kya baat hai, sir,” he said, grinning. “Aapko bas ek shikari ki tarah shikar pe nikalte dekhne ka mazaa hai.”
“Bas dekhte ja,” I replied, a glint of mischief in my eyes as I stepped into the ring.
The hearing went on for hours, a fiery back-and-forth that left no room for weak arguments. The opposing counsel attempted to throw curveballs, but I countered each one sharply, dismantling their claims with a mixture of legal precision and sarcasm that was almost too much fun.
“Objection, Your Honor,” I said, my voice calm but firm as I raised my hand. “Counselor yahan pe facts twist kar rahe hain to mislead the court. Agar aapko drama dekhna hai, to courtroom ke alawa bohot jagah hain.”
A chuckle echoed through the room. I glanced at the judge, who struggled to maintain his composure as he motioned for the opposing lawyer to continue. These moments, where the thrill of intellect clashed against hollow arguments, made every sleepless night worth it.
After the hearing, as I was gathering my papers, Satyam walked up to me , his face flushed with excitement.
“Sir, aaj to aapne kamaal kar diya. Inka toh case hi practically collapse kar gaya.”
“Mujhe jo chahiye hota hai, main wahi karta hoon,” I replied, my voice tinged with a sense of finality. “Aur ye court ka stage… ye mera ground hai, samjha?”
Satyam nodded, admiration in his eyes as he helped me pack up the files.
As I walked out of the courtroom, my phone buzzed. Maa again. She must have heard about the case, maybe wanted to congratulate me… or lecture me. It could go either way. But at this moment, I wasn’t in the mood for a moral lecture on family values and stability.
“Good job, beta!” she’d say, followed by “kab tak akele rahoge?” I could almost hear her voice in my head.
The truth is, I have no interest in the path everyone wants me to follow. Get married, have kids, settle down – as if there was a fixed formula to living.
No. That kind of life wasn’t for me. I loved the chaos, the thrill, the freedom of my own rules. Every case was a challenge, a thrill that made me feel alive. Responsibilities? Shaadi? Mujhe koi zaroorat nahi hain inn sab ki .
I grinned to myself, thinking back to the words my dad often used. “Ranvijay, ek normal life nahi chahiye tumhe?” he'd ask, frustration clear in his eyes. But how could he understand? For me, "normal" felt like a cage, a routine suffocating enough to drive me crazy.
Mere liye, ek aurat ke saath settle hone ka matlab sirf aur sirf kaam ki restrictions lagna hai. “Beta, family ke liye time chahiye hoga,” or “Beta, wife ko bhi time dena padega.” All I want is my work, my independence, and my own way of living.
I have fair share of experience in dating women but none of them worked out. I hate it when someone tries to control me and tell me what shall I do .
A man who learns from others experiences is Wise and I have seen enough married people to stay away from that cage .... I dont want to be one of them ....
As I reached my car, Satyam followed behind, still high from our win in court. “Sir, ghar jayenge ya office?” he asked, though he knew my answer.
“Office hi chalo. Abhi nayi case ki tayari shuru karni hai,” I replied, chuckling at the thought of how scandalized my family would be to know I was working this late – again.
"Sir, aapko thoda aaram bhi karna chahiye. Aapki mother bhi humesha yahi kehti hai," Satyam commented, almost under his breath.
“Maa ko main manage kar lunga, tum bas yeh case ke notes lekar ao.” I shot back and he nodded without arguing any further.
We spent the next few hours in my office, working over details for the next case. As I reviewed files, I felt the satisfaction settle in, knowing that once again, I was on my own path, exactly where I wanted to be.
I cracked my fingers looking at my laptop screen and a yawn escaped my mouth. I have been working since last night and it's almost evening now .
Saving all the details I mailed it to my secretary Satyam . I got up from my chair stretching my limbs and prepared a strong black coffee for myself.
I was sipping my coffee when my phone rang and it was my mother as usual.
Hiii Maa.....I greeted her and she started her usual complaint session.
This is not how you work beta ....tujhe Jo karna tha humne karne diya ...teri har zid Puri ki but soone uthne ka koi time hota hai .....
Raat se ghar nahi aaye ho tum ...aur phir dophar tak soota rahega ....ye kesa routine hai Ranvijay.......Maa rented as usual .
I dont know why but according to my mother sleeping by 10 pm and waking up by 6 am will fix everything.....she never liked my ways of doing things but she loves me the most and I know the trick to manipulate her .
Maaa yrrr I am coming home .... mujhe bohot bhuk lagi hai ..I told her .
Beta Ghar aaja ....tera favourite khana banaya hai ... Jaldi aana ....she said and I hummed sipping my coffee and ended the call with a smile.
See , it was not at all difficult to trick her in changing the topic .
Life and logo ko handle karne ka ek hi tarika hai ......sidhi baat ko ghuma phira ke complex bana ke batao .....
They won't get the straight facts but would easily believe twisted lies .
The more you will think about the society and their rules the more they will scare you .....Don't take it seriously....that's what my mantra in life is .
F**k the society and their rules or they will f**k your life .....
I reached home and got down the car . Good evening Dad ......I greeted my father and he looked up from his newspaper and nodded his head .
Ranvijay......mera bachaaa......Daddi called me and I smiled engulfing her in a hug . I kissed her wrinkled cheeks and she laughed patting my back .
I am her favourite grandchild and she always favours me . You are againg like a fine vine Indira.......I winked at her and she laughed even more slapping my arm lightly while my father groaned as I am addressing his mother by her name.
Well you see previlages !!!!
I had my food with my mothers usual rants of how I am over working myself and looks weak and pale .
Baaki sab kaha hai Maa....I inquired as the house felt silent today . Ranveer Anu , Anjali or Aarvi ko mall leke Gaya hai Maa informed me and I nodded.
I took a warm bath and settled on my cozy bed just in my shorts to get a much needed sleep .
